Thuthuka Fund Bursaries 


Thuthuka Fund bursary's sole objective is to place up 290 Black African & Coloured students at selected SAICA-accredited universities in South Africa. These students must pursue undergraduate BCom Accounting education programmes.

The bursary will be issued to student who have enrolled or intend enrolling at accredited universities that have been identified by this programme. These universities are: University of Johannesburg, University of KwaZulu-Natal, Stellenbosch University, University of Cape Town, Pretoria University, University of Free State & the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.

The Thuthuka Fund Bursary will be awarded to academically strong applicants who are committed to becoming Chartered Accountants in South Africa.

Thuthuka Fund Bursary recipients who do exceptionally well in Mathematics and have excellent marks in the other subject to qualify for university entrance are invited apply.

Who Can Apply for Thuthuka Fund Bursary?

Do you have 60% in Maths at grade eleven?
Do you have sufficient points to allow you entrance for university?
Do you come from a previously disadvantaged family that cannot afford university education cost?
Are you an African or Coloured applicant?
If you answers are all positive to questions above, then you can submit your bursary application.

ApplicationRequirements for the Thuthuka Fund bursary

Aspiring CA(SA) applicants who wish to enroll for the bursary must: Must Be a South African Citizen
Have achieved at least 60% (five or above on the NSC Scale of Achievement) in Mathematics in Grade 11
The learner must be a South African Citizen
Must be in Grade 12 and applied (or be in the process of applying) for a BCom Accounting degree at a SAICA-accredited university offering the Thuthuka programme
Must be African or Coloured
The learner must not be out of Matric/school for more than 2 years.
To be considered for the Thuthuka Bursary Fund, you are required to register and write the National Benchmark Test (NBT).

The Thuthuka Fund Bursary application must has to meet the above criteria

Bursary applicants must have or be in the process of applying to one of the following tertiary institutions:

University of Cape Town (Bachelor of Commerce code CB011 )
Nelson Mandela University
Rhodes University
University of Stellenbosch
Pretoria University
University of the Free State
University of Witwatersrand
North-West University (Potchefstroom Campus)
