Gauteng Government Bursaries


The Head of Department of the Gauteng Provincial Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs hereby invites registered/admitted under/post graduate students to apply for bursaries to undertake full-time studies in the 2017 academic year. CoGTA is offering 20 bursaries. 


Applicants must pursue full-time under/post graduate studies in the following fields:

Corporate Communications,
Development Planning
Engineering and Town Planning Infrastructure Development related studies
Finance and Accounting and
Governance and Risk,
Human Resource Management,
Information and Communication Technology
Inter-Governmental Relation,
Law,
Municipal Governance,
Office Management and
Policy and Research
The Bursary covers:

Tuition and registration fees, prescribed books and/or study material and is limited to the maximum value of R 30,000.00 per learner, for the 2017 academic year.

REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must be South African citizens between the ages of 18 and 35, completed grade 12, applicants must reside in Gauteng, already registered or in possession of admission letter from an accredited institution within Gauteng Province.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Selection of successful candidates will be strictly based on academic merit.

Applicants are expected to study at an accredited South African tertiary institution within Gauteng.

It is the student's responsibility to seek/obtain admission with a tertiary institution.

The bursary is for post/under graduate qualifications of no less than 360 NQF Credits.

Successful candidates will be required to enter into a Bursary Contract.

CoGTA has no obligation to employ the bursary holder on completion of the qualification.

Applicants should not hold concurrent bursaries or financial study assistance from other organisations/institutions.

The Department is committed to Employment Equity; therefore preference will be given to candidates from disadvantaged groups.

Candidates in the Affirmative Action categories are particularly encouraged to apply.

Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Failure to provide any of the required documents in a manner that is prescribed will result in disqualification of the application and as such deemed non-responsive.

Bursary Requirements



B-Com or Equivalent with Accounting, Audit, Economy or Management Accounting as main subjects.
Valid Code B Driver’s license.
Proficiency in at least two of the official languages of the Western Cape (Read, write and speak).
Computer literacy (MS Office).
Ability to give attention to detail.

Key Performance Areas
Assisting in the implementation of accepted municipal accounting practice and budgetary reforms. Training in developing statistical reporting modules. The preparation of financial statements and management reports. Reconciliations and financial analysis. Electronic collection of financial data. Internal audit. Other financial functions.

TISO Foundation Bursaries


Tiso Foundation Tertiary Bursary Programme is aimed at identifying deserving previously disadvantaged applicants. In order to apply for this bursary program you must demonstrate talent and determination in their previous academic lives. The Foundation nurtures and empowers participants to achieve their academic potential, and go on to a meaningful career that will have a lasting impact on their careers, communities and the country.


If you want to be selected for TISO Foundation bursary, you must meet the following criteria:
good to excellent matric results or academic performance (if already registered at University)
a dedication to their studies and a willingness to meaningfully participate in upliftment programmes existing in the communities from which they emanate
be highly competitive selection process ensures these bursaries are accessed and utilised by students with the greatest promise, with a particular focus in the fields of Engineering, Science, Commerce and Medicine.

Bursary beneficiaries are offered life skills training and academic support. Upon completion the Foundation is available to assist the best students to access career opportunities through its network of corporate and institutional relationships.

The programme aims:

To promote equity in the workplace by supporting strong black students to acquire the necessary academic qualifications
To help address the skills shortage in the economy
To address challenges of poverty through the avenue of human capital development.
Since inception, the Foundation has funded 50 students pursuing degrees and national diplomas in accredited institutions of higher learning. Going forward,the Foundation targets to support 20 students per year through partnerships with various stakeholders.

TISO Foundation Bursary Application Criteria


Must be between the ages of 18 and 34
Must come from a previously disadvantaged background.
Must be in possession of good to excellent matric results.
Must produce excellent results if already registered as a full time student.
Must be  financially needy
Must portray and excellent positive attitude.
Must be dedicated to their studies.
Must provide references.
Must be willing to give back to the community.

LGSETA BURSARY SOUTH AFRICA 2019

LGSETA Bursaries 2018



The LGSETA invites students who are interested in joining the local government sector to apply for our bursary opportunity.

In response to the national “#FeesMustFall” campaign experienced at Higher Education Institutions across the country during 2015, the Local Government Sector Education and Training Authority (LGSETA) embarked on a bursary scheme in line with the Annual Bursary targets agreed with the Department of Higher Education and Training, and in line with the LGSETA policy to assist students by funding their studies.

NOTES AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETION

Read these notes carefully before completing the application form.

Make sure that you read every section and that the information you provide is accurate.

1. Please complete application the online link: www.lgsetawsponline.org.za/LPD.

2. INCOMPLETE FORMS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED (this includes forms with missing documents).

3. The LGSETA does not take responsibility and will not be held liable for any forms which were undelivered or missing.

4. Students who are granted a bursary from another organisation/institution are obliged to inform the LGSETA.

In the case that a student is granted a bursary from another organisation/institution the LGSETA has the right to withdraw funding awarded.

5. The LGSETA bursary is an annual award, therefore students will be required to re-apply annually.

6. Non-South African students will not be considered.

7. It must be a full qualification that is accredited on the NQF/NCV/N Levels and must be a year or over programme.

8. The student must be enrolled at a public institution.

9. The student must be within the youth age group (18-35 years).

10. The student must be unemployed.

Documents to be submitted:

1. Certified copy of your ID Document.

2. If you are in your first year at an institution, include a certified copy of your Grade 12 results, and continuing students must include previous year academic results.

3. Attach highest grade and qualification achieved including results.

4. Attach proof of registration

5. Fee structure (Quotation, Account statement or invoice from the institution), books and residence costs.

6. Proof of Income/ Affidavit (for unemployed), and certified ID copies of parent/guardian.

The LGSETA will only fund a course which falls within the scarce and critical skills areas in local government.

In making the final selection, first preference will be given to:

- Previously Disadvantaged Individuals

- People with Disabilities

Bursaries are available to students who are registered with any of the Public Universities, Universities of Technology and TVET Colleges in South Africa.

The bursary will cover the cost of registration, tuition, books and residence fees for up to the maximum amount of R 50 000 per annum.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) hereby invites applications for their one year Internship Programme. We are looking for graduates to join our Internship programme in the following field:-

Air Quality Information – 3 positions – Ref. AQI – 2017

Successful candidates will be exposed to air quality monitoring, data management and reporting.
Applicants must satisfy the following requirements:
An appropriate tertiary qualification Degree/National Diploma in Environmental Management, Engineering, Chemistry, Geography, Atmospheric Science or any other relevant environmental related field.
An applicant must be a new graduate or have been unemployed for a period of one year after completion of a tertiary qualification.

Interns will be placed within the SAWS: Department Air Quality Information based in Pretoria. Successful candidates will be responsible for arranging their own accommodation and transport. SAWS will pay a monthly stipend.
Recruitment will be done in line with the SAWS Employment Equity Plan.
Successful candidates will be required to enter into an Internship Agreement with SAWS. SAWS is under no obligation to employ the intern on completion of the programme.

This 2-year leadership development programme in partnership with Barloworld, our valued dealer for mining, construction, and power systems products throughout southern Africa – South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Namibia, Botswana, Angola, Malawi, Mozambique, and Zambia.


The position will be based in Sandton, South Africa.

What does the programme involve?

The programme kicks off with a comprehensive induction that provides you with in-depth insight into the Caterpillar/Barloworld culture and processes and all of the tools and information that you will need to get you started.

You are then given the opportunity to embark on a learning journey including rotational assignments across various business units within Caterpillar and Barloworld.

These rotational assignments will be focused on developing industry and product application knowledge as well as a strong understanding of the Caterpillar Dealer network.

This unique way of gaining exposure to the wider business will enable you to gain valuable experience that will put you on the right track for potential leadership roles in the future.

At the start of the programme you will be assigned a personal mentor who will help guide you through your journey.
