FPE Bursaries 2016 - 2017



Through the Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education (FPE) the Pharmaceutical Society promotes and administers the availability of bursaries for undergraduate study of pharmacy at recognised institutions in SA from the second year of study onwards.

Undergrad application form for 2017 will be available in July 2016

Postgraduate bursaries

In addition the Foundation also makes bursaries available for postgraduate study in pharmacy related subjects.
An application form can be downloaded in October each year or contact your Pharmacy School for a copy.

Who Can Apply?

• Only pharmacy students from the second year of study – no first year applications will be considered (Grade 12’s also excluded)
• Only South African citizens FOR HOW LONG?
• Only one academic year at a time
• Recipients of bursaries must submit a new application each year for renewal of bursaries
CRITERIA:
All relevant criteria are taken into consideration during the allocations, including:
• Financial circumstances of the applicant (most weighted criteria) – applicants whose
family income exceeds R130 000 per annum before tax are seldom eligible for financial
aid
• Academic achievement – all subjects must be passed – minimum 60% average
overall
• Dependants of the supporter still studying – tertiary institutions, scholars
• Other financial assistance – bursaries, loans etc.
• Special circumstances
• Sponsor specific criteria

Mtema Mashao Bursary


The purpose of this study policy is to assist potential future employees of the Company to improve their education and skills in order to maximize efficiency and productivity of the Company.

Applications for the following academic year shall be submitted not later than 30 October of the current year.

Mtema Mashao Bursary Requirements


All South Africans between the ages of 18 and 26 years of age.
Preference would be given to those from poor family backgrounds but who meets the minimum admission requirements of the tertiary institution(s) of his / her choice.
Applicants must have achieved excellent academic results (aggregate symbol C).
The Company shall have the discretion to decide on who should be granted the financial assistance.


In exercising the discretion, the company shall be guided by its business needs and financial position.

Music Bursaries for students at South African Universities

The SAMRO Foundation invites applications for bursaries for music studies. The SAMRO bursaries requirements are:

full-time students,
registered at a South African University, in their
2nd, 3rd and 4th years, or honours, masters or doctoral degrees, who are
Citizens of South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho or Swaziland, who are
studying for a degree or diploma majoring in music.

Regrettably the SAMRO Foundation is not presently in a position to award bursaries to:

students from private higher education institutions;
university students in their 1st year of study;
students in foundation or bridging programmes.
Each bursary is worth R10 000.


The closing date for submission of online applications: 31 March 2016

The Samro Bursary Application Forms

Before applicants start to fill in the form they should source following digital documents that will need to be uploaded before submitting the application:

Copy of ID Document
Proof of 2016 registration
2015 Examination results or most recent academic record (university transcript)
2 Letters of reference (not older than 3 months)
For Masters and Doctoral applicants - a 5 to 8 page synopsis of your thesis or dissertation.
We request that all communications including reference letters be provided in English

Please only submit what has been requested. Additional material will be discarded.

Disqualification criteria: Applications will not be considered if

any section of the form is incomplete
supporting documents are missing
more than one proposal is submitted per student
the application is submitted after the deadline of 31 March 2016
Terms and conditions:


The decisions of the independent adjudication panel will be final, subject only to confirmation by SAMRO Foundation’s Board
Awarded bursaries will be communicated to the relevant Heads of Department and paid directly to the relevant universities for the relevant year.
Bursaries are restricted to the degrees/diplomas stated in the applications and may not be transferred to other degrees/diplomas
Bursary awards are for payment of tuition fees only
Bursaries may only be used in the academic year in which they are awarded

It is important to note that the on-line application process requires of you to complete four separate sections: 1) personal details; 2) academic details; 3) attachments and 4) a declaration.

It is important that you complete all these sections and that you attach all relevant documents.

We are not in a position to consider incomplete applications.

Please ensure that you have enough time to complete this on-line form and that you have all the information and attachments/annexures at hand before you start the process.

Bursary Application Dates

It is advisable to apply sooner rather than later and not to wait for the closing date.

The relevant dates are as follows:

Applications for our Winter Vacation Programme (July 2016) close on 1 March 2016.
Applications for our Summer Vacation Programme (January 2017) close on 1 August 2016.

The Ben Scholtz Bursary Fund offers deserving students the opportunity to obtain a qualification in one of the career options within GWK, or in scarce skills. These skills include agricultural economists, agriculturists, Safex traders, grain procurers, buyers and programmers.

GWK Bursary Value


The bursary fund may be used for registration, class and book fees up to the value of the bursary amount approved.

Candidates, who obtain a qualification, will be considered for vacancies within the GWK Group. If there are no vacancies available, the bursary will be converted to a loan, which must be repaid.
