ERWAT BURSARIES

In line with ERWAT’s Talent Management Strategy, the Company offers comprehensive bursaries to students for full time studies. Every year bursaries are offered in specific fields of study, which meet the particular needs and skills requirements of the organisation. Please note that the closing date for applications is 31 December 2012 and not the date on the PDF form.

The following bursaries are offered:

BSc Biotechnology
BSc Mechanical Engineering
BSc Civil Engineering
BSc Electrical Engineering
BSc Analytical Chemistry

Academic performance and merit will be the deciding factor for consideration.

First year applicants will only be considered if already applied and accepted at an institution of Higher Learning for BSc studies in the above mentioned areas of study.

The bursars will be required to enter into a contract with ERWAT.

Who can apply?

If you meet the following criteria you are welcome to apply:

    You are a South African citizen
    You meet the entry requirements for your chosen field of study at a registered university.
    You have partly completed a qualification and you are an above average academic achiever.
    You have achieved excellent scholastic success despite the lack of opportunities and financial support.

Preference will be given to Ekurhuleni residents.

Which qualifications  are bursaries awarded for?

Bursaries are awarded depending on the particular need for specific skills at the time of the awarding of the bursaries; this will be in the engineering, chemical, physical sciences and technical studies.

What does the bursary cover?

The bursary covers the following expenses:
  • Full tuition
  • Prescribed books
  • Residence fees
  • Monthly allowance

What will ERWAT expect from you?

ERWAT expects the students to pass their course with good marks. The bursary will be awarded for the next year of study only when you have progressed satisfactorily. Modules that are failed will have to be repeated at your own cost. If your qualification requires practical training in order to obtain the qualification, ERWAT will provide such training. ERWAT will require that you remain in its employment for a year for each year that you received the bursary. If you fail to adhere to the bursary agreement, the bursary will have to be repaid to ERWAT.

How are the bursars selected?

A selection committee will interview applicants at ERWAT Head Office.
Final awarding of the bursary is dependent on satisfactory end of year results, acceptance by an institution of higher learning (e.g. University).

VOLKSWAGEN (VW) BURSARIES 2021

Volkswagen (VW) Bursaries 2021

This programme is aimed at providing financial assistance and vocational work to students studying towards a qualification aligned to the motor industry. Bursaries are awarded according to specific Company needs. Bursaries are offered to undergraduates from the 2nd year of study at a recognised tertiary institution.

Applications for bursaries are open, dependant on Company requirements, from 1 June to 15 August annually.

Bursaries will not be offered during 2021, therefore applications will only be received in 2020, for 2021, following further review.

At Volkswagen Group South Africa, we're constantly looking to give a hand up to those who reflect the same innovation and initiative as our great Brands themselves. Our range of Trainee Programmes offer developmental opportunities through the integration of academic knowledge and practical skills.

These include:

VW Graduate Trainee Programme

Designed for motivated, driven and dedicated individuals who possess excellent communication skills, leadership potential and an above average academic record. This is a 12 month intensive training programme including Personal Development, Leadership Development and On-the-job Training which will provide graduates with a solid foundation from which to build their careers. Interested graduates must have one of the following minimum qualifications: University degree, 3 year Technikon diploma or post degree/diploma in various fields.

The Programme is aimed at individuals currently in their final year of study. Provision will be made to recent Graduates with a maximum of 12 months formal work experience.

Applications for the Graduate Trainee Programme are open on our from 1 June to 15 August annually.

VW Technician Trainee Programme

A 12 month programme offering experiential training covering the P1 and / or P2 requirements of an engineering diploma for individuals who have completed a minimum of S2.

Trainees who have completed all requirements of their National Diploma may, at the end of the Programme, be considered for the Graduate Trainee Programme.

PWC BURSARIES PROGRAMME

Pwc bursaries are offered to students who are confident with their academic performance and results. The Pwc bursary amount will vary depending on supplied proof that you are not able to afford the full study fees. Students who are successful and are awarded with the bursary will have  to work on a training contract with PwC when you complete your studies.

Who Can Apply For Pwc Bursaries?


Pwc bursaries are awarded to students who are pursuing studies towards undergraduate and/or postgraduate studies in the following fields:
  • BCom IT/ Informatics
  • Engineering Management
  • BSc IT/ Computer Science
  • BSc IS/ Information Systems
  • Actuarial Science/Mathematics
  • Accounting
  • Management

Bursaries Requirements

The bursary applicant must be enrolled in any of the above degrees

If you are an undergraduate student you must pass all your university courses with an average of at least 70%

If you are a postgraduate student you must pass all your university courses with an average of at least 60%

Students should be able to display that they have good personal skills and are able to relate to other people. You also need to show that you have leadership skills. For example, you can make things happen because you have a strong personality, or you explain things so clearly. It is important to be able to assess a situation and start working on it independently; you must also recognise that  teamwork can be equally important.

As a recent graduate you may well be continuing with your studies after joining PwC. We recognise how important this is to you and to us as a firm. Our study support programmes are there to help you.

Financial Assistance for Studies

Financial assistance for further study is provided in the form of a bursary. The bursary will support further study in an area which is directly relevant to the employee's position in the firm at that time. Study must be through an accredited university, college or other appropriate  institution.

Will I be given enough study leave?

Study leave decisions are based on the firm's policy. Study leave  depends on the level of the course and the number of times you have already attempted it.
