NATIONAL TREASURY BURSARY SCHEME

The South African National Treasury Department is committed to the development of highly skilled professionals, especially in the fields of Accounting and Applied Commercial Sciences. As part of our commitment, the department’s bursary scheme provides financial support to South Africa students studying in these fields. It aims to build critical skills capacity and provide students with the opportunity to further their studies.

Who Must Apply?

To apply for this bursary scheme:
  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You meet the entry requirements for your chosen field of study (provide proof of registration or provisional acceptance at the university)
  • Financial need
  • You must be studying or intending to study in the fields stated in Q2 below
  • If you are in matric: You have a grade 12 certificate with university exemption and an aggregate of 65% or higher
  • If you are already in university: You have obtained an average of 60% or higher for the previous year of study at university

MUNICIPAL ENGINEERING GRADUATE BURSARIES

The dplg has made funds available to assist disadvantaged youth. The roll-out of the Bursary Fund will follow a phased approach initially targeting engineering students in the system with the initiative being expanded through financial commitments from stakeholders. Phase two will also target successful Grade 12 learners.
Who Should Apply
Applicants should be within the designated group i.e. black women and men, youth, and disabled, where youth is defined as in the National youth development policies of South Africa.

Applicants must be South African citizens.
Applicants must be eligible to enroll for an engineering degree in any of the recognized South African Higher Education Institutions.

Applicants who have successfully completed their first year engineering degrees.
Applicants from a previously disadvantaged background, especially the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, North West and Limpopo, will be given priority.

Applicants willing to join the municipal engineering sector after the successful completion of their studies for a period equivalent to the period of bursary support. Bursary Application Form
