Impala Platinum Bursary Information

Impala Platinum Bursaries are open to all applicants who meet university minimum entrance requirements of a university exemption. Bursary applications are invited from students with a minimum of C symbol for both Science & Mathematics.

Bursaries are offered in the following fields of study:

  • Engineering
    • Mining
    • Metallurgy
    • Chemical
    • Mechanical
    • Electrical (heavy current)
  • Chemistry to honours level, with a second major in either physics or mathematics
  • Geology to honours level, with a second major in one of the following:

ACTUARIAL BURSARIES - LIBERTY GROUP LIMITED BURSARY

Liberty Group Limited actuarial bursaries are granted to student who intend studying toward actuarial degree at a university level. You must be a full-time student in order to qualify for this bursary.

Criteria
  • Excellent overall results including a distinction for higher grade Mathematics
  • A minimum of four distinctions, with distinction in higher grade Mathematics and Physical Science
  • At tertiary level, students must maintain continuous excellence in academic performance in all subjects
  • Good leadership qualities and participation in extramural activities such as sports, debating societies, chess clubs and various Olympiads, etc are an added advantage
Costs Covered
  • Tuition fees are paid for each academic year of study and reviewed annually based on academic performance
  • Residence fees/subsistence allowance is paid for shared accommodation at a university residence
  • A monthly subsistence allowance is paid if the student chooses not to live at the university residence
  • A book allowance is paid annually for the purchase of textbooks
  • First year students qualify for a calculator allowance
  • Applications are open to all students regardless of the year of study. Once approved, the bursar will enter into an agreement with Liberty Life that will be renewed annually.

MUNICIPAL ENGINEERING GRADUATE BURSARIES

The dplg has made funds available to assist disadvantaged youth. The roll-out of the Bursary Fund will follow a phased approach initially targeting engineering students in the system with the initiative being expanded through financial commitments from stakeholders. Phase two will also target successful Grade 12 learners.

Who Should Apply

Applicants should be within the designated group i.e. black women and men, youth, and disabled, where youth is defined as in the National youth development policies of South Africa.

Applicants must be South African citizens.
Applicants must be eligible to enroll for an engineering degree in any of the recognized South African Higher Education Institutions.

Applicants who have successfully completed their first year engineering degrees.
Applicants from a previously disadvantaged background, especially the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, North West and Limpopo, will be given priority.

Applicants willing to join the municipal engineering sector after the successful completion of their studies for a period equivalent to the period of bursary support. Bursary Application Form

TSHWANE CITY BURSARIES

FULL-TIME BURSARY SCHEME FOR NON-EMPLOYEES This scheme is applicable to students studying on a full-time basis at any institutions registered with SAQA. By implication these students may not be employed on a full-time basis while studying but may be eligible for vacation employment and/or experiential training in the relevant division.

Fees
  1. This scheme provides for all prescribed class fees, plus an additional 50% of class fees to assist with books and necessary equipment. Fees are paid for the minimum duration of the course as determined by the relevant educational institutions. It is expected of the students that they repeat at their own cost any academic year which they have not completed successfully.
  2. The fees for related expenses such as books are paid directly to the student, while class fees are paid to the educational institution except in the case where the student has already paid in advance.
